Most people hate goodbyes because saying this really means something. It could mean that someone has to go somewhere else or maybe he is not happy with where he is anymore. When it comes to real estate business, no one knows how much people can endure before snapping. It takes a while to pop up and there is some sort of contractual agreement in place. The question is, how do you get out of it? Can you fire your agent? How?
If you are not happy or contented with the services or performance of your agent anymore, why prolong the agony? Firing your agent would probably be the solution. However, before coming up with this idea, there are signs for you to know that it is definitely time to say goodbye. First would be when both of you argue on almost everything. Your ideas never meet, and you always disagree with each other’s views and opinions. Every time you talk to each other about the situation, your voice rises in a higher tone. You cannot think of anything good about your agent and when others ask about him or her, what you can answer are unflattering adjectives. In other words, the relationship is not healthy and both of you are incompatible.
Worst comes to worst, you have to end this stressful situation, and you can do that by cancelling the agreement or contract with your agent by mutual consent. If you are to cancel the listing agreement, you can ask the agent to do it. There is always a safety or protection clause to all Exclusive Right-to-Sell listings. If your agent refuses, call his broker and inform him about your request. If still, the broker refuses, ask him to assign another agent for you. They would definitely agree with this one in order to save the relationship with their client. If no options have been effective, you may now call a real estate lawyer and ask for termination assistance, but make sure to inform your broker of your intentions to do so. On the other hand, if you are to cancel a Buyer’s Agency Agreement, ask your agent for a Termination of Buyer Agency Form. With this, you may cancel all written and oral agency agreements.
